My son has sickle cell disease. He had two blood transfusions before the age of three. If I could take his sickness and pain, I would. No child should have to suffer from an illness. It is especially difficult if it is a serious illness that doctors tell you could result in death. I should pass away before my child. I want my child to have a normal and fun childhood. For a long time, I felt guilty thinking that it was did something during pregnancy that caused the illness. I went to a bible study a and they discussed this bible verse:
“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.” John 9:3
We may never know the reason for a lot of things that happen in our lives. We can pray that God gives our baby strength and us strength. We should praise God as if everything is already wonderful even if it isn’t. When the day comes that we see the works of God through our baby happen, it will be a blessing and we can praise HIM.
